Are you a lawyer looking for a firm where collaboration truly takes precedence over competition?
What if you could practice your profession in an environment where files belong to the team rather than one person, where knowledge sharing is part of daily life, and where the annual goal is set at only 1,000 billable hours?
Our client, a well-established law firm in Outaouais and Montreal, wants to welcome a lawyer with at least three years of experience in business law, commercial litigation and/or estate litigation.
The firm is based on a collaborative approach founded on professional autonomy, trust, mutual aid, and a balanced distribution of files. Here, performance is not measured solely by the number of billable hours, but also by the quality of work, contribution to the team, and relationship with clients.
Your role
Reporting to the firm's management and working closely with other lawyers and team members, you will take charge of various files corresponding to your area of expertise and professional interests.
You will advise and represent clients, develop legal strategies tailored to their needs, and ensure rigorous management of your files, all while evolving in a culture where knowledge, responsibilities, and mandates are truly shared.
The position is primarily based in downtown Gatineau, with the possibility of using the Montreal offices when certain meetings, activities, or mandates require a presence in that region.
What to expect
- Advise clients on their rights, obligations, and different legal options;
- Analyze files and conduct required legal and jurisprudential research;
- Develop strategies adapted to the needs, objectives, and challenges of clients;
- Write and revise various legal documents, including contracts, procedures, agreements, notices, and legal opinions;
- Represent clients before courts, commissions, or other bodies, as required;
- Participate in negotiations and dispute resolution;
- Ensure the preparation, follow-up, and autonomous management of your files;
- Collaborate closely with other firm members and actively contribute to knowledge sharing;
- Participate in the development of practices and the evolution of the firm;
- Accomplish any other related responsibilities related to the practice of law.
Depending on your experience and area of practice, some mandates may also involve estate settlements or other related files.
Profile sought
- Hold a university degree in law allowing the practice of the profession in Quebec;
- Be a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec;
- Have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in business law, commercial litigation, and/or estate law;
- Demonstrate excellent analytical, research, and legal writing skills;
- Be able to manage files in an autonomous and rigorous manner;
- Possess strong communication, advocacy, negotiation, and client relationship skills;
- Demonstrate excellent professional judgment as well as a strong sense of organization and responsibility;
- Adopt a collaborative approach and demonstrate a genuine interest in sharing knowledge.
We are looking for someone who is committed, accessible, and rigorous, and who wants to contribute in the long term to a firm where trust, loyalty, collaboration, and quality of work are central.
