Job DetailsJob Location: Mississauga, ON L4T 1G3Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 HourlyEMSL is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Asbestos) in Mississauga, ON. The technician supports the laboratory analysts by preparing samples for analysis. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare environmental samples prior to analysis Air Sample Prep, Bulk Sample Prep, Dust, Water, Soil
Utilization of balances, HEPA filtered fume hoods, filtration systems and muffle furnaces to prep samples
Support all sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation, and disposal
Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager
QualificationsRequirements:
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Authorization to work in Canada indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25lbs and standing for various lengths of time
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance
Available Shifts:
Position is full time, Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
