Eagle Heart Centre Inc. is dedicated to providing strength-based support and services to empower families,
children and youth toward a healthy lifestyle in the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual aspect of life.
Position
The Youth Care Worker supports vulnerable and at-risk youth living in a care home environment through
individual and group programming, life skills training, and crisis intervention. Using a harm reduction
model, the Youth Care Worker promotes independence, safety, and personal growth. Reporting directly to
the Team Lead with overarching accountability to the Executive Director, this role delivers culturally safe,
trauma-informed, and youth-centered services that align with Eagle Heart Centre’s mission, vision, and
universal competencies.
Education
Post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with youth, including those with physical or developmental disabilities, brain
differences, or mental health challenges.
Qualifications
- Commitment to EHC’s mission, vision, and values; culturally competent practice and
understanding of Indigenous community needs.
- Knowledge of child development, mental health, addictions, domestic violence, and systemic
challenges facing youth.
- Strong problem-solving, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills.
- Effective communication, facilitation, and mentorship skills.
- Time management, organizational skills, and accountability for caseload and deadlines.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a residential team environment.
- Reliability, punctuality, and adaptability in meeting program needs.
- Physical capacity to perform job requirements (sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, driving,
carrying/lifting to 50 lbs).
- Reliability, punctuality, and adaptability in meeting program needs.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector clearance.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable, insured vehicle.
