About the Role
We are looking for an Intern Systems Administrator to join our IT team. In this role, you will support the day-to-day operations and continuous improvement of our Microsoft technology environment, including on-premises Windows infrastructure and Azure/Microsoft 365 services. You’ll work closely with senior team members in a collaborative and fast-paced environment while building hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining Windows patching and endpoint/server update processes under supervision.
- Provide support for an on-premises Windows Server environment (e.g., file/print services, DNS/DHCP, and Active Directory users/groups).
- Help with basic administration tasks in Azure and Microsoft 365 (e.g., Entra ID/Azure AD, Microsoft 365 apps and services) following documented procedures.
- Participate in routine operational activities such as monitoring, account requests, access changes, and documentation updates.
- Support troubleshooting and ticket resolution, escalating appropriately and keeping clear notes for follow-up.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by learning internal standards, suggesting updates to runbooks, and assisting with small automation tasks (e.g., PowerShell) where applicable.
- Assist with other IT infrastructure and operations tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a diploma or degree program in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic networking concepts (e.g., DNS, DHCP).
- Interest in learning and supporting core Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory and Azure/Microsoft 365.
- Exposure to ticketing/support practices and troubleshooting concepts (through internships, school projects, labs, or personal projects) is an asset.
- Scripting/automation interest (e.g., PowerShell) is an asset.
- Relevant entry-level certifications (or progress toward them) are an asset.
