Job Title: EH&S Representative
Location: G3 Head Office (On-Site)
The Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) Representative plays a balanced role in supporting both on-site EH&S activities and maintaining key EH&S management systems and processes. The position works closely with site management, safety committees, and operations to support hazard identification, risk mitigation, incident investigations, safety audits, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. In addition, this role maintains EH&S data, reporting, training, tracking, and communication systems that support organizational performance and consistency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support location management and administrators with inquiries regarding EH&S processes to ensure consistent understanding and application.
- Deliver timely and clear communications to notify, educate, and engage staff, and reinforce the position of EH&S in the corporate culture.
- Assist as required, EH&S investigations, audits, and site assessments through hazard identification, documentation, corrective action tracking, record maintenance, and communication of risk mitigation measures.
- Travel to operational locations as required to provide hands-on EH&S support, ensure consistency in program application, and strengthen the organization's safety culture through visible field presence.
- Support on-site management, safety committees, and operating teams in the consistent application of EH&S programs, processes, and expectations.
- Learn and understand grain operations in order to effectively support locations with hazard identification and appropriate controls to mitigate risk.
- Monitor contractor activities on-site to ensure compliance with company EH&S requirements, safe work practices, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Aid in incident response activities by attending incident scenes when required, collecting evidence, conducting interviews, and assisting with root cause analysis.
- Monitor compliance with facility safety requirements and industry best practices through regular site engagement and support.
- Develop and support initiatives aimed at enhancing safety culture, employee engagement, and operational excellence.
- Drive and support the enhancement and digitization of EH&S management processes and systems.
- Maintain the EHS Training Tracker, Learning Management System, and other EH&S management systems (fully competent within Excel).
- Provide regular and ad hoc reports, and maintain data and statistics regarding activities, opportunities, and trends.
- Maintain a tracking system for injury incident performance, key performance indicators, incident investigations, and other EH&S performance measures.
- Maintain the employee portal SharePoint site to facilitate and standardize access to EH&S information and enable consistent communication.
- Serve as a contact for inquiries from external organizations such as EH&S service providers.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or certificate in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in EH&S.
- Working knowledge of Canadian occupational health & safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, along with effective communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to develop strong professional relationships and influence peers, managers, and other teams.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, pivot tables, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of SharePoint applications.
- Ability to travel as required
