Accountable to the Clinical Manager, the Senior Echocardiography Technologist performs Echocardiograms on both inpatients and outpatients. Duties include: performing M-mode, 2-D, Doppler and colour flow echocardiograms in accordance with hospital procedure; interpreting echocardiograms; coordinating routine maintenance of equipment with MES; maintaining up to date departmental records and files; assisting physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms; protocolling dobutamine stress echocardiography and other duties as may be assigned. The Senior Technologist will also oversee the scheduling of patients, review and advise on capacity concerns, training new staff and students, and communicate regularly with Clinical Manager regarding physician, patient or staff issues/concerns.
- Current Registration with the CMRITO ( College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario)
- Successful completion of a recognized Echocardiography course
- Registration with Sonography Canada is considered an asset and preferred
- Minimum of two years’ experience in an Echocardiography Lab
- Basic knowledge of ECG interpretation
- Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills
