Financial Accountant
Location: Downtown Toronto, ON (Hybrid, 2 days in office)
Base: $70,000 to $80,000 per year + Benefits
HireLoft Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Toronto family office based in Downtown Toronto (close to Union Station) that manages a portfolio of private holding companies, real estate investments, and operating entities. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join their growing finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to gain exposure to multi-entity accounting, real estate operations, and financial reporting within a stable and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will enjoy a broad range of responsibilities and direct exposure to senior finance leadership.
What You'll Be Doing
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for a group of related private holding companies, including bank reconciliations and month-end close
- Maintain organized financial records and follow up with stakeholders to ensure expenses are properly documented for tax purposes
- Track tax slips and prepare reconciliations, providing supporting documentation to tax and compliance teams on a timely basis
- Support property management administration, including rent collection, owner distributions, recording rent and management fees, and liaising with third-party property managers
- Prepare and update monthly cash flow reports and real estate reporting across multiple entities
- Maintain portfolio and operating company tracking schedules and spreadsheets in Excel
- Manage document handling, including scanning and routing CRA correspondence and maintaining organized accounting files
- Prepare cheque deposits and assist with banking documentation for senior review
- Provide general administrative and accounting support to the finance team
What We're Looking For
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2 to 4 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Strong recent graduates with co-op or internship experience will also be considered
- Working knowledge of full-cycle bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and Canadian tax slips
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, formatting, and basic reporting
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion
- Comfortable working independently and interacting with senior leadership
- Experience with Sage 50 an asset
- Exposure to real estate or property management accounting
- Experience working within multi-entity organizations or family office environments
