The Opportunity
Denison is advancing the Wheeler River Project through an important phase of engineering and project development. As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls, helping ensure engineering work meets project requirements for safety, quality, cost and schedule.
The electrical scope will continue to develop through procurement, construction and commissioning. Denison needs an experienced engineering leader who can provide technical direction, coordinate work completed by engineering firms and vendors, and help ensure design decisions, specifications and technical reviews remain aligned as the project progresses.
Key Responsibilities
As the Lead Electrical Engineer you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:
1. Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Leadership
- Lead Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls engineering activities for the Wheeler River Project.
- Provide technical direction across engineering strategy, design standards and project requirements.
- Guide electrical engineering decisions throughout project development and help keep work aligned with approved technical requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering and project personnel.
- Act as Technical Authority when assigned.
2. Engineering Coordination & Technical Assurance
- Coordinate electrical engineering activities with Denison’s Project Team, engineering contractors and technical partners.
- Oversee engineering work completed by external engineering firms, vendors and service providers.
- Review engineering deliverables and provide technical assurance against project requirements.
- Work across disciplines to resolve technical issues and maintain alignment between engineering activities and broader project objectives.
- Support engineering delivery against defined scope, schedule, cost, quality and value requirements.
3. Equipment, Procurement & Vendor Engineering
· Support the development and review of equipment specifications and associated technical requirements.
· Participate in procurement activities, vendor engineering and design review processes.
· Review vendor technical information and work with suppliers and engineering partners to address technical requirements and resolve issues.
· Maintain effective working relationships with equipment vendors, contractors and other technical stakeholders.
4. Risk & Technical Review
- Participate in HAZOPs, risk assessments and other formal technical reviews.
- Apply technical expertise to identify engineering risks and support sound project decisions.
- Provide electrical engineering input as the Wheeler River Project progresses through engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
The Essentials (Hard Skills):
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan.
- 7+ years of progressive electrical engineering and/or engineering leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering practices, standards, design processes, and technical assurance requirements.
- Experience supporting electrical engineering activities across major project phases, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience with equipment specifications, procurement support, vendor engineering, and design review.
- Experience coordinating engineering work completed by consultants, contractors, vendors, and service providers.
- Experience participating in HAZOPs, risk assessments, and other formal technical reviews.
- Mining, uranium, heavy industrial, or comparable project experience is considered an asset.
