Position Title: Business Analyst
Status: Full-Time Administration Contract
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Information Technology Services
Campus/Location: North Campus – must be comfortable working hybrid, a minimum of four (4) days on-site.
Minimum Starting Salary: $97,491; starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience.
Duration of Need: Until March 31, 2027

About The Business Analyst Role
The Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the discovery, analysis, planning, and delivery of strategic digital initiatives across Humber.
You will collaborate with business and technology interested parties to understand business needs, define problems and opportunities, document current and future-state processes, identify requirements, and support the evaluation of potential solutions.
Acting as a bridge between business needs and technology delivery, you will facilitate conversations with interested parties, translate business needs into clear and actionable requirements, and work collaboratively with Product Owners, Enterprise Architecture, technical teams, and business partners to support informed decision-making and successful delivery.
You will contribute throughout the initiative lifecycle, from early discovery and planning through requirements definition and implementation support, ensuring business objectives, requirements, decisions, dependencies, and expected outcomes are clearly understood and documented.
Ultimately, you are accountable for providing strong business analysis capability that enables Humber to better understand complex business problems, evaluate opportunities, and progress strategic initiatives toward measurable outcomes.
Key Duties
- Collaborating with business and technology interested parties to understand strategic objectives, business needs, challenges, and opportunities.
- Lead and support discovery activities, including interviews, workshops, process analysis, and requirements gathering.
- Analyze and document current-state and future-state business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, simplification, and automation.
- Support Product Owners in defining, refining, and maintaining initiative backlogs and connecting detailed requirements to expected business outcomes.
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture and technical teams to provide the business context and requirements needed to evaluate solution options and inform recommendations.
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions to clarify requirements, resolve gaps, identify dependencies, and support alignment and decision-making.
- Support vendor and solution evaluation activities by documenting requirements, analyzing proposed capabilities, and assessing alignment with business needs.
- Support initiatives through planning and implementation by maintaining requirements traceability and helping ensure delivered solutions align with agreed business needs.
- Develop clear documentation and recommendations that enable leadership to make informed decisions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Planning and Scoping practices, business analysis standards, templates, and ways of working across Humber.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Analysis, or a related field.
Experience/Skills
- Working knowledge of AI-assisted business analysis tools and techniques (e.g., prompt and context engineering, AI-assisted documentation and requirements drafting), with sound judgment to validate AI-generated outputs before they inform a decision
- Comfort operating in an evolving practice where AI increasingly supports requirements elicitation and documentation - while accountability for accuracy, business intent, and outcomes remains with the analyst
- Experience with Salesforce, AWS, and/or higher education systems and integrations is considered an asset
- Working knowledge of QA test planning, test execution, and coordination of user acceptance sign-off is considered an asset
- A minimum of five years of experience in business analysis, strategic analysis, digital transformation, or related roles within complex enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading discovery, requirements gathering, business process analysis, and future-state definition.
- Experience supporting complex digital or technology-enabled initiatives involving multiple business and technical interested parties.
- Strong facilitation and engagement skills, with the ability to lead discussions, workshops, and requirements sessions with diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex problems, identify opportunities, and develop practical recommendations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Product Owners, Enterprise Architecture, technical teams, vendors, and business.
- Experience working within product, or iterative delivery environments and developing or managing work through structured backlogs.
- Experience with Azure DevOps or comparable work management tools is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting vendor evaluation, procurement, system implementation, or digital transformation initiatives is considered an asset.
- Experience within higher education or another complex public-sector environment is considered an asset.
