About Digital Learning At Humber
Digital Learning at Humber Polytechnic supports innovative, accessible, and engaging teaching and learning through the effective use of digital technologies. The department works collaboratively with faculty and academic partners to enhance learning experiences, strengthen digital teaching practices, and support the delivery of high-quality education across Humber.
About The Learning Technology Specialist Role
The Learning Technology Specialist (LTS) coordinates support for educational technology (EdTech) tools used in teaching and learning across Humber. Working in a fast-paced environment, the LTS supports faculty, students, and staff with a wide range of technologies, including the Learning Management System (LMS), collaboration and engagement tools, and teaching and content creation technologies.
As a second-tier support specialist, the Learning Technology Specialist resolves complex issues, develops support resources and workarounds, mentors Learning Technology Advisors and student staff, and monitors service requests to ensure timely resolution. The role collaborates closely with system administrators, technical teams, Information Technology Services, the Registrar’s Office, and external vendors to support the effective delivery of EdTech services.
The Learning Technology Specialist also contributes to service reporting, communications, training development, and institutional initiatives, while maintaining expertise in emerging technologies and supporting continuous improvement of educational technology services across the institution.
Key Duties
- Manage the Innovative Learning ticketing system.
- Manage the day-to-day assignment and resolution of support tickets.
- Conduct 1:1 virtual support / training sessions for faculty.
- Monitor service performance and analyze support trends, identifying opportunities for process improvements, operational efficiencies, and enhanced user experience.
- Provides tier-two support services to faculty, students, and staff to resolve escalated educational technologies issues and inquiries.
- Supports educational technology implementation and updates, upgrades, and enhancement projects by investigating process and system changes, engaging in testing, and developing training resources for the Innovative Learning team and faculty, staff, and administrators.

Education
- Minimum 2-year diploma or equivalent.
- Fields: computer programming, digital communications, multimedia design and development, web development, videography, software development, front-end development.
- Additional platform-specific training (100 hours or less).
Experience/Skills
- Minimum 3 years in complex support centre/help desk/call centre environment.
- Strong client service, organization, communication and technical skills.
- Knowledge of MS365, Learning Management System, EdTech tools, Banner/Destiny One and data tools.
