Campus/Location: North Campus – must be comfortable working hybrid, a minimum of four (4) days on-site.

About Digital Learning At Humber
Digital Learning at Humber Polytechnic supports innovative, accessible, and engaging teaching and learning through the effective use of digital technologies. The department works collaboratively with faculty and academic partners to enhance learning experiences, strengthen digital teaching practices, and support the delivery of high-quality education across Humber.
About The Instructional Developer Role
The Instructional Developer provides expertise in instructional design and learning pedagogy to support high-quality, flexible, and accessible program and course delivery. Working closely with academic leaders, faculty, Program Planning Development and Renewal consultants, and cross-functional teams, the role advises on instructional approaches, course design, assessment strategies, and the effective use of educational technology to enhance student learning.
The Instructional Developer collaborates with academic and Innovative Learning teams to analyze learning needs, identify improvement opportunities, and design engaging learning experiences across various delivery formats, including hybrid, HyFlex , online, and technology-enabled courses. The role develops recommendations, learning activities, and course frameworks that promote student engagement, personalization, and academic quality.
Drawing on expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, and educational technology, the incumbent supports the continuous development and enhancement of courses and programs while fostering innovative, learner-centred teaching practices.
Key Duties
- Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to define appropriate instructional strategies and philosophies for hybrid, and fully online engagement in meaningful learning.
- Develop courses with supplied content from faculty/SMEs that are compliant with: Quality assurance standards/guidelines, current instructional design principles, copyright, and intellectual property, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act standards.
- Develop and support the creation of dynamic learning content to enhance online teaching and learning.
- Design and facilitate relevant training sessions and workshops in support of effective curriculum development, instructional design, and/or technological integration techniques.
- Provides Learning Management System technical support and training as part of the Innovative Learning team (e.g., EdVenture Days); provides technical advice and support for faculty; troubleshoots technical issues with access and course set-up for faculty.

Education
- Minimum 4-year degree or equivalent in Education, Curriculum and/or Instructional Design, Adult Teaching, Educational Technologies, Instructional Design, Assessment Techniques, Web/Multimedia Development, Higher Education or equivalent.
- Additional training in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Technology-based Learning or Distance Education. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite, Storyline/Articulate and related tools.
Experience/Skills
- Minimum 5 years practical experience in instructional design, course development, learning management systems, web-based authoring tools, project management across program areas and application of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act requirements to educational materials.
