Revenue Accountant
Location: GTA
Work Model: Hybrid – 4 days onsite

Our client is looking for an experienced Revenue Accountant to join their finance team. This is a hands-on accounting role focused on revenue accounting, month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
The ideal candidate will have strong corporate accounting experience and be comfortable independently managing accounting activities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage revenue-related accounting activities as part of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
- Prepare and post journal entries including revenue, accruals, prepaids, reclasses, and other adjusting entries.
- Perform revenue reconciliations and investigate discrepancies or unusual balances.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance-sheet accounts.
- Support deferred / unearned revenue accounting and ensure revenue is recognized in the appropriate period.
- Perform month-end close activities and ensure assigned accounts are completed within established close timelines.
- Review financial results and perform variance and account analysis.
- Prepare supporting schedules, working papers, and accounting documentation.
- Support preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
- Investigate accounting issues and work with internal teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Support audit requirements by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
- Assist with process improvements, automation, and strengthening accounting controls.
- Partner with Finance and other business teams on revenue-related accounting matters.
- Support ad hoc accounting and reporting requirements as needed.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with month-end close.
- Experience preparing and posting journal entries.
- Strong experience with account reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
- Hands-on experience with revenue accounting or revenue recognition.
- Experience with accruals, prepaids, reclasses, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of debits and credits and accounting fundamentals.
- Experience with financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CA, CMA, ACCA, or other recognized accounting designation; candidates actively pursuing a designation may also be considered.
- Experience with deferred revenue / unearned revenue.
- Financial services, lending, banking, fintech, insurance, leasing, or consumer finance experience.
- Experience working in a high-volume or multi-entity environment.
- IFRS / ASPE / GAAP knowledge.
- SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics, or similar ERP experience.
- Power Query, Power BI, or accounting automation experience.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accountant, not purely FP&A, who can independently manage month-end activities, prepare journal entries and reconciliations, understand revenue flows, identify issues in the numbers, and work comfortably in a fast-paced corporate environment.
