Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to support regulatory projects across Finance, with a strong focus on Tax. The role will lead complex projects end to end, working closely with senior stakeholders including Tax leadership, Finance teams, and cross-functional business partners.
Contract: 12 months with Possibility of extension or conversion
Location: Toronto – Hybrid, 2 days onsite per week (Wednesday & Thursday)
Interview Process: 2 rounds – virtual and in-person
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex Finance regulatory projects, from initiation and requirements through implementation and closure.
- Manage project planning, scope, timelines, budgets, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Work closely with Tax, Finance, Controllership, Treasury, and senior business stakeholders to deliver project objectives.
- Lead requirements gathering, project planning, design, testing, implementation, and post-implementation activities.
- Establish meaningful and measurable project benefits and track achievement throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively identify project risks, schedule issues, and dependencies and develop mitigation and corrective action plans.
- Analyze complex business situations and data to identify issues, evaluate solutions, and make recommendations.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations, project status reports, and milestone updates to senior leadership.
- Lead project meetings, steering committee discussions, and stakeholder reviews with clear outcomes and action items.
- Coordinate matrixed teams and influence business and technology stakeholders to achieve project deliverables.
- Work independently on complex projects with minimal direction and provide expert project management guidance.
- Support projects involving international stakeholders, including UK and APAC time zones when required.
Must-Have Skills
- 10+ years of Project Management experience.
- 10+ years of experience delivering large, complex projects from planning through implementation.
- Strong experience with project planning, requirements, execution, testing, implementation, risk, budget, and timeline management.
- Experience delivering regulatory projects within a large banking/financial institution.
- Experience within a Finance function, such as Tax, Controllership, or Treasury.
- Strong ability to analyze complex concepts, resolve project issues, assess solutions, and make recommendations.
- Proven experience managing senior stakeholders and matrixed teams.
- Strong experience preparing executive-level presentations, status reporting, and project updates.
- Ability to work with stakeholders across UK/APAC time zones when required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
Nice to Have
- PMP certification.
- Experience delivering Tax compliance projects.
- Experience with Finance regulatory initiatives.
- Experience delivering global e-invoicing or similar Tax transformation projects.
- Previous experience working directly with senior Tax leadership or Global Head of Tax.
