Junior Settlements / Operations Analyst
Location: Downtown Toronto – Hybrid, currently 2 days onsite
Duration: 12 months
Rate: $25–29/hr
Schedule: Rotating bi-weekly shifts: 9:00 AM–5:30 PM and 10:30 AM–7:00 PM
Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Junior Settlements / Operations Analyst to support trade confirmations and settlements within a high-volume financial markets environment.
The successful candidate will process transactions, investigate breaks and discrepancies, manage settlement exceptions and work with internal teams and counterparties to ensure trades settle accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and confirm financial market transactions
- Support daily trade settlement and clearing activities
- Investigate trade breaks, discrepancies and settlement exceptions
- Follow up on outstanding transactions and potential settlement issues
- Review reports and respond to transaction-related inquiries
- Liaise with internal teams and external counterparties to resolve issues
- Maintain accurate transaction and settlement records
- Work within daily processing deadlines to minimize settlement failures
- Support ongoing process and operational improvements
Must-Have Qualifications
- 2+ years of banking or financial services operations experience
- 1–2+ years of direct settlements, trade processing, confirmations or clearing experience
- Hands-on experience working with trades or financial transactions
- Experience investigating breaks, discrepancies and exceptions
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, deadline-driven processing environment
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Nice to Have
- Money market, fixed income or capital markets operations experience
- 3–5 years of banking operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or a related discipline
- Previous experience within a major financial institution
Ideal Profile
A junior-to-intermediate banking operations professional with hands-on trade settlement or confirmation experience who understands the importance of accurate, timely transaction processing and can independently investigate and resolve settlement issues.
