About The Role
This is the most specialized of the three profiles: an experienced developer who migrates legacy MS Access/VBA and MS SQL Server applications and their data into modern Oracle APEX-based platforms, while keeping the legacy systems running during the transition.
What you'll do
- Analyze, interpret, and translate legacy source datasets - including MS Excel, MS Access, and other file- or system-based sources - into structures compatible with Oracle database and Oracle APEX environments.
- Plan and perform end-to-end ETL activities: staging, transforming, validating, and loading datasets from legacy sources into Oracle environments using Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and APEX utilities.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance legacy MS Access–based and/or MS SQL Server–based applications to sustain them during migration, using MS Access, T-SQL, and Microsoft VBA as needed.
- Document data mappings, transformation logic, business rules, profiling results, and data-quality findings for transparency and repeatability.
- At the discretion of the Technical Authority, may also support broader software development activities: bug and change request development, peer code reviews, testing and test script development.
Must-have
- Hands-on experience with MS Access and Microsoft VBA in a production/legacy-application context.
- Experience migrating legacy data (Access, Excel, SQL Server) into a modern platform - ETL design and execution.
- Working knowledge of Oracle SQL / PL-SQL and, ideally, Oracle APEX.
- Fluent English, spoken and written, with minimal errors.
- Must be a Canadian citizen - a requirement for eligibility for the Government of Canada Secret-level personnel security screening this role needs to start work.
- Able to work on-site at 455 Boulevard de la Carrière, Gatineau, QC, on a primarily in-person basis.
Nice-to-have
- Already holds an active Government of Canada Secret-level clearance
- T-SQL experience specific to MS SQL Server legacy applications.
- Exposure to software testing / test script development.
