About The Role
This resource owns data modelling and Oracle database design for two in-house engineering products, working alongside a Full-Stack Developer and a Data Migration Developer, and is supported by DND's own database administrators.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for Oracle database environments, ensuring consistency, integrity, and alignment with business and system requirements.
- Design, enhance, and maintain Oracle database structures, including complex SQL queries and PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, packages, and triggers.
- Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing improvements, bottleneck analysis, and monitoring/diagnostic tooling.
- Work collaboratively with the Data Migration Developer to define and validate source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, and data quality expectations for ETL activities.
- Produce and maintain documentation for data models, database design, and development processes.
Must-have
- Proven experience designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models, ideally for Oracle environments.
- Strong Oracle SQL / PL-SQL development skills (stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers).
- Experience with database performance tuning and diagnostic tooling.
- Fluent English, spoken and written, with minimal errors.
- Must be a Canadian citizen - a requirement for eligibility for the Government of Canada Secret-level personnel security screening this role needs to start work.
- Able to work on-site at 455 Boulevard de la Carrière, Gatineau, QC, on a primarily in-person basis.
Nice-to-have
- Already holds an active Government of Canada Secret-level clearance
- Experience supporting ETL/data migration initiatives from a modelling perspective.
- Prior delivery experience on a Government of Canada IT services contract.
