Base Salary: $185,000 (+bonus, equity and vacation package)
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 6-15+ years of experience practicing labour and employment law, including experience advising on Canadian employment legislation, human rights matters, and workplace investigations.
- Called to the Ontario Bar in 2019 or prior years
- LL.B/J.D. and member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Prior experience working at a law firm focusing on employment law firm.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and case law, including multi-jurisdictional employment issues across Canada.
- Experience advising on wrongful dismissal matters and employee termination issues.
- Experience managing tort litigation matters, including bodily injury claims.
- Knowledge of asset protection claims, professional liability claims, employee misconduct matters, and workplace violence investigations.
- Experience providing legal advice on employment contracts, human rights issues, accommodations, disability, family status, religion, and other protected grounds.
- Experience supporting employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
- Experience managing litigation and working with external counsel.
- Experience handling workplace misconduct, harassment, and code of conduct matters.
- Comfortable working onsite 5 days per week in an open office environment.

Job Description
- Provide legal advice on a wide range of labour and employment law matters across Canada.
- Advise business leaders and Human Resources teams on employee relations issues, workplace investigations, accommodations, and human rights matters.
- Review and draft employment agreements, workplace policies, termination documentation, and other employment-related legal documents.
- Support wrongful dismissal matters and provide strategic guidance on employment disputes.
- Manage litigation files related to employment, workplace conduct, asset protection, professional liability, and tort claims.
- Prepare legal strategies, mediation materials, settlement recommendations, and defence positions for disputes.
- Partner with external panel counsel on matters that proceed to court, while maintaining overall ownership of the legal strategy internally.
- Advise on labour relations matters, including unionized workforce issues and collective agreement interpretation.
- Provide guidance on workplace misconduct, harassment complaints, and workplace violence concerns.
- Support cross-border employment law initiatives and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Advise on Occupational Health and Safety matters and help mitigate workplace risk.
- Work closely with HR and business leaders to proactively identify and manage legal and employment-related risks.
