Position: DevOps Engineer (GitHub)
Location: Onsite- Toronto, ON

As a GitHub Enterprise / DevOps POC Engineer, you will research, prototype, and validate GitHub Enterprise capabilities, GitHub Actions, CI/CD workflows, and migration approaches within an enterprise environment. The role focuses heavily on hands-on POCs, toolchain integrations, automation, and migration testing while working closely with senior platform and engineering teams.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct hands-on research spikes and POCs to evaluate GitHub Enterprise features, capabilities, and migration tools.
- Build and test GitHub Actions CI/CD workflows, reusable action templates, and runner environments.
- Compare GitHub Actions capabilities with existing Jenkins pipelines and identify migration opportunities.
- Set up and validate integrations between GitHub and enterprise tools including Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, CDD, Jira, Confluence, AWS, and Kubernetes.
- Investigate and test Bitbucket-to-GitHub repository migration scripts and utilities.
- Identify migration edge cases, technical gaps, and potential issues and communicate findings to senior engineers.
- Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, and/or Groovy for REST API interaction, configuration parsing, and repetitive testing.
- Document POC results through spike reports, technical summaries, how-to guides, and demonstrations.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, platform specialists, and developers to gather feedback and refine POC solutions.
- Troubleshoot integration, pipeline, migration, and automation issues during experimentation and validation.
Required Skills
- 2–5+ years of practical experience in Software Development, DevOps, Systems Engineering, or equivalent hands-on project/internship experience.
- Working knowledge of Git and Source Control Management, including branching, pull requests, and Git/GitHub/Bitbucket workflows.
- Hands-on exposure to CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
- Practical scripting/programming experience with Python, Bash, or Groovy for automation and API integration.
- Strong problem-solving, experimentation, troubleshooting, and POC mindset.
- Basic knowledge of Maven/Gradle and artifact/package repositories such as Artifactory.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills, including presenting POC findings and demos.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Hands-on GitHub Actions experience, including custom actions and workflow automation.
- Docker and Kubernetes exposure.
- AWS experience.
- Code quality/security tools such as SonarQube, Snyk, or Checkmarx.
- Jira, Confluence, and CDD (Continuous Delivery Director).
- GitHub certifications such as GitHub Actions or GitHub Foundations.
