We are seeking a Buyer to join a dynamic team in Calgary, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely procurement of materials and services that support manufacturing, operations, and business objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with purchasing experience, strong supplier management skills, and a passion for driving operational excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
Procurement & Purchasing
- Process requisitions and convert them into purchase orders daily.
- Create, issue, maintain, and manage Purchase Orders (POs) within ERP systems.
- Lead RFQs and supplier interactions to obtain pricing, lead times, and specifications.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and PO-level commercial terms.
- Manage PO revisions, change orders, and associated approvals.
- Ensure purchase orders accurately reflect business requirements and timelines.
Supplier Management
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery commitments, quality, and responsiveness.
- Proactively identify and escalate supply risks and late deliveries.
- Support supplier onboarding and performance review activities.
- Expedite critical orders to support production and operational commitments.
Materials & Inventory Support
- Coordinate procurement activities to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
- Validate material requirements against forecasts, inventory, and production demand.
- Manage raw material and consumables purchasing.
- Track open orders and follow up on delivery commitments.
- Prevent duplicate purchases through effective inventory verification.
Manufacturing & Operations Support
- Support manufacturing orders and Bill of Materials (BOM) maintenance.
- Coordinate external processing activities and subcontracted services.
- Maintain visibility of material flow and production status.
- Manage free-issue materials, service POs, and material transfers.
Financial & Procure-to-Pay Activities
- Perform PO, Goods Receipt, and Invoice (3-way match) validation.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies with suppliers and Accounts Payable.
- Support timely supplier payments and financial accuracy.
- Maintain procurement documentation and compliance records.
Continuous Improvement
- Track procurement and supplier performance metrics.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce lead times, and optimize costs.
- Contribute to procurement, planning, and materials management improvements.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, supply chain, or materials management.
- Knowledge of Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes.
- Experience processing Purchase Orders and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, energy, oil & gas, or production environments.
- Understanding of supplier performance metrics and inventory management.
- Experience with BOMs, material planning, and production support activities.
- Familiarity with contract management and sourcing processes.
