We are seeking an Engineering Business Development Representative to expand the company's presence within the Greater Vancouver engineering, construction, and specification community.
This is a technical, relationship-driven business development position focused on engineering engagement, specification development, project influence, and long-term market growth.
Working closely with regional sales and engineering resources, you will build relationships with consulting engineers, owners, developers, mechanical contractors, and other technical decision-makers.
Your objective is to engage stakeholders early in the project lifecycle, understand their design and construction challenges, and introduce engineered solutions that improve project execution and long-term system performance.
A significant part of the role involves working within the engineering community to increase technical acceptance and have appropriate solutions incorporated into project designs, engineering standards, and specifications.
Responsibilities
Engineering & Specification Development
- Develop relationships with mechanical consulting engineers, design firms, owners, developers, and technical stakeholders.
- Engage engineering teams during design and pre-construction stages.
- Provide technical guidance on piping systems, joining methods, flow control, material selection, and applications.
- Assist engineers with specifications and appropriate product selection.
- Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and educational sessions.
- Support engineering standards and specifications that facilitate product acceptance.
Business & Market Development
- Identify projects where engineered mechanical solutions can provide measurable technical and commercial value.
- Build a pipeline of specification-driven opportunities throughout Greater Vancouver.
- Develop relationships with stakeholders who influence product selection and project design.
- Maintain involvement through longer project cycles, from initial design and specification through construction.
- Collaborate with regional sales colleagues to convert engineering influence into commercial opportunities.

You will develop expertise across engineered solutions used in:
- Commercial and institutional HVAC and hydronic systems
- Mechanical rooms and central plants
- Potable and domestic water systems
- Fire protection
- Industrial and process piping

Customers may evaluate these solutions based on installation productivity, project schedules, jobsite safety, vibration, system movement, thermal expansion, maintenance, reliability, and lifecycle performance.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
- Experience within construction, engineering, mechanical systems, or engineered products.
- Demonstrated success in technical sales, business development, specification sales, or account management.
- Understanding of how engineers, contractors, manufacturers, distributors, and owners interact throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ability to understand technical drawings, specifications, product data, and application requirements.
- Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-development skills.
- Self-directed and comfortable managing a territory and project pipeline with considerable autonomy.
- Existing relationships within the Greater Vancouver engineering, construction, or mechanical community are an asset.
- Ability to travel throughout the territory as required.
You may currently work for a mechanical equipment manufacturer, manufacturer's representative, mechanical distributor, HVAC/hydronics supplier, valve or piping company, engineering firm, or mechanical contractor.
You understand that major project opportunities are often influenced well before products are purchased. You are comfortable engaging engineers during the design stage, discussing technical applications, understanding project requirements, and helping stakeholders evaluate different approaches.
Above all, you enjoy building long-term relationships and becoming a credible technical resource rather than simply selling products.
