Lac La Biche County is seeking an experienced and collaborative financial leader to join our Corporate Services Division as
Manager, Finance.
Reporting to the
General Manager, Corporate Services Division, the Manager, Finance provides leadership for the County’s financial services, procurement functions and related financial systems. This position leads a team of finance professionals and plays an important role in ensuring strong financial stewardship, legislative compliance, effective internal controls and informed corporate decision-making.
The Opportunity
As Manager, Finance, you will provide leadership and financial expertise across the organization. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, coaching and supporting Finance staff while promoting accountability, teamwork and service excellence.
- Leading the County’s annual operating and capital budget processes, including planning, consolidation, monitoring and reporting.
- Overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, year-end activities and the external audit.
- Monitoring financial performance, analyzing trends and variances, and providing recommendations to support sound decision-making.
- Providing financial advice and analysis to senior leadership and departments on business cases, capital projects, funding opportunities and corporate initiatives.
- Developing and maintaining effective financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Providing oversight of procurement and contract administration and identifying opportunities for cost savings and best value.
- Supporting improvements to financial systems, reporting tools and business processes.
- Building effective working relationships with departments, Council, external auditors, vendors and other stakeholders.
What You Bring
T
he successful candidate will have:
- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible related experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Municipal or broader public-sector experience is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, audit practices, procurement and contract administration.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop employees, manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work within established deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical advice.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, along with sound judgement and political sensitivity.
- Proficiency with financial, budgeting and reporting systems and Microsoft 365 applications.

Position Details
Status: Permanent full-time
Hours: Based on 1820 hours annually, 35 hour work week, with a 7 hour workday, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours may be required during budget, year-end, emergencies or other designated activities.

Competitive Compensation: A competitive salary to commensurate with qualifications, experience, and senior leadership responsibilities. Salary range $119,719.60 to $154,154.00 annually ($65.78 to $84.70 hourly).
