LeverageTek is actively seeking a SharePoint SME (IM/IT & Governance) for a 6-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.

The successful candidate will be required to work 2 days per week on-site at the customer headquarters in Ottawa.
Key Tasks
- Review and document the current state of the SharePoint tenant, including site inventory, ownership, permission structures, and external sharing settings
- Remediate permissions issues across the tenant and establish a standard access control model with clear, named site ownership
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of SharePoint storage consumption, identify growth drivers, produce a cloud storage and cost forecast, and implement the agreed archiving and retention solution
- Conduct discovery sessions with every department to understand current SharePoint usage, content, workflows, and pain points
- Consolidate findings into a prioritized roadmap of SharePoint improvements and present for approval
- Define and implement an enterprise information architecture including document library framework, content types, managed metadata standards, and navigation
- Configure and optimize enterprise search including managed properties, indexing, result sources, and refiners
- Develop wireframes and mockups for standard site and landing page layouts
- Ensure the information architecture, metadata model, and permissions structure support planned use of agentic AI tooling
- Identify, train, and coach departmental SharePoint content owners across all departments
- Deliver knowledge transfer and administrator documentation to the internal technology team
- Establish an ongoing SharePoint support and governance model
Key Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience designing, building, and administering SharePoint Online environments at the enterprise/tenant level
- Demonstrated experience remediating SharePoint permissions and access control at tenant scale, including conducting organization-wide stakeholder discovery and translating findings into an approved information architecture
- Microsoft certification in SharePoint Online or Microsoft 365 administration (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert), or equivalent demonstrated experience
Qualifications
- Experience performing tenant-level SharePoint storage assessments and implementing archiving, retention, and site lifecycle solutions
- Experience configuring SharePoint enterprise search including managed properties and indexing
- Experience with Microsoft Teams SharePoint-backed environments
- Experience preparing a Microsoft 365 tenant for AI tooling, including metadata readiness and oversharing remediation (asset)
- Experience establishing an ongoing SharePoint support or governance service and training distributed content owners
- Post-graduate credential in usability, UX design, information architecture, or information/records management (asset)
- Proficiency with wireframing tools such as Balsamiq, Figma, or Visio (asset)
- Familiarity with Power Platform / Power Automate for document workflow and metadata automation (asset)
- Advanced English oral and written communication skills
- Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels
