The successful candidate will provide individualized support to children who require additional assistance to fully participate in the child care program. This role is well suited to someone with experience supporting children with diverse abilities, developmental needs, or behavioral challenges, and who is committed to fostering an inclusive, nurturing, and developmentally supportive environment.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with our child care team to enhance children’s participation, learning, well‑being, and sense of belonging.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support to children requiring additional assistance in daily activities and programming.
- Support children’s social, emotional, physical, communication, and developmental needs.
- Assist children in engaging in play‑based learning, group activities, routines, and transitions.
- Adapt activities, materials, and approaches to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
- Promote positive behavior using patient, respectful, and supportive strategies.
- Encourage the development of independence, communication skills, social skills, and confidence.
Qualifications
- Valid Manitoba Child Care Assistant (CCA) Certification.
- Experience supporting children with additional needs, including developmental disabilities, autism, behavioral challenges, or other diverse abilities (strongly preferred).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Valid Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Completion of, or willingness to complete, the required 40‑hour course within the first year of employment.
- Ability to understand, respond to, and support individual children’s needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively and professionally as part of a team.
