The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Benefits and Wellness Specialist position within our Human Resources Department located at 150 Henry Avenue in Winnipeg, MB. The Benefits & Wellness Specialist is responsible for the administration and coordination of the employee benefits and pension programs, and will develop and implement wellness, recognition, rewards, and engagement initiatives that enhance the employee experience. Remuneration will be dependent on experience and qualifications.
Job Duties/Competencies:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits and pension inquiries;
- Administer the employee benefits and pension programs in accordance with plan provisions, policies, procedures, and applicable requirements;
- Process employee enrolments, changes, terminations, and other benefit and pension-related transactions;
- Work closely with the insurance provider and Insurance Broker to resolve employee inquiries, administrative issues, eligibility questions, and other benefits and pension matters;
- Promote and educate employee on benefits and pension information and resources, develop materials, presentations, guides, and other resources as required to lead benefits initiatives;
- Research relevant wellness topics, campaigns, and awareness initiatives and provide employees with information and resources related to current programs, services, and initiatives;
- Assist with the administration and coordination of medical leaves and leaves of absence;
- Provide support for employee relations matters and special Human Resources projects as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Human Resources, Benefits Administration, or a related field;
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive benefits administration experience in Human Resources;
- Demonstrated facilitation and public speaking skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, as well as knowledge and proficiency of ADP HRIS is preferred;
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills;
- A team player with a natural desire to meet deliverables and exceed expectations;
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check is required;
- Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
