Role Description The Project Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Orangeville, ON, responsible for overseeing high voltage and civil construction projects from initiation through completion. This role includes leading project planning, defining scope, schedules, and budgets, and ensuring all work complies with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications. The Project Director coordinates multidisciplinary teams, manages subcontractors and suppliers, and monitors project progress to address risks and issues promptly. They engage directly with clients, providing project updates, managing expectations, and ensuring a high level of service and quality across all project deliverables.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in managing construction projects in the high voltage or power distribution sector, including substations and civil works.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and resource allocation.
- Knowledge of electrical power systems, high voltage infrastructure (4.8kV–115kV), and relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Proven leadership abilities to direct field crews, engineers, and subcontractors, fostering a safe, collaborative work environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, regulators, and internal teams.
- Solid understanding of construction safety practices and compliance requirements for high voltage and civil works.
- Proficiency with project management tools and basic office software for documentation, reporting, and scheduling.
- Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Previous experience in utility, electrical contracting, or infrastructure construction is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work on-site across project locations as required.
