Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities and Ground Support Equipment Maintenance, this individual is responsible for the supervision of the Porter’s ground support equipment team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support an Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) shop and technicians.
- Ensure the timely and proper performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE equipment and light support vehicles.
- Inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical circuitry malfunctions.
- Interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical data.
- Identify appropriate replacement parts and technical documents.
- Ensure correct removal, disassembly, repairs, cleaning, treatment for corrosion, assembly, and re-installation GSE accessories and components by the GSE team.
- Ensure correct servicing of equipment with fuel, oil, coolant, water, hydraulic fluid and air as required.
- Operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE equipment, vehicles, inventory and supplies.
- Position equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
- Adhere to safety procedures, and follow technical orders as applicable.
- Acquire Daily Equipment Checks from equipment using department, and follow up with users regarding equipment issues
- Follow and assign completion of GSE Preventive Maintenance Programs including out bases as assigned
- Aid in the tracking of parts and equipment
- Gain approval, order and supply GSE parts and supplies for all equipment and GSE team.

- Monthly Checks Of Out Bases Equipment if required
- Restock Out Bases Inventory as assigned
- Provide direction and training to our GSE technicians
- Assist in the hiring or new team members
- Disciplinary action when required
- Monitoring and revising schedule ensuring adequate coverage
- Resolving team member issues/conflicts
- Attend meetings and contribute resolutions to GSE Health and Safety issues in all Porter departments.
- Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

Qualifications
- Must be a certified mechanic – minimum Automotive Service Technician 310-S or 310-T
- Requires a minimum 4 years’ experience in GSE maintenance, or equipment maintenance.
- High school diploma with strong mechanical/electrical background.
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience required
- Must have a valid driver’s license and able to obtain MOT security clearance.
- Experience working with Diesel equipment and welding equipment would be and asset.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance
- Ability to quickly reallocate resources, or personally respond to duly approved emergency/urgent requirements
- Knowledge and application of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use of tools and equipment.
- Able to work different shifts as required
- Excellent physical condition
- Able to work in varied weather
- Dependability (must have a clear attendance record and reliable on time reporting for work)
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
- Demonstrated a positive attitude and good working habits
- Able to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with other departments
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS-Office Excel & Word, as well as CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software)
