ProxyLink is seeking an experienced UX Designer to support a public sector client on digital products and services. The successful candidate will lead user-centered design activities, conduct user research, develop intuitive digital experiences, and collaborate closely with business stakeholders and technical teams.
About the Role
As a UX Designer, you will be responsible for creating user-friendly, accessible, and visually engaging digital experiences across web and mobile applications. You will take a user-centered approach to research, design, prototyping, testing, and iteration while working with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead UX projects, design workshops, and alignment sessions with stakeholders and business users.
- Conduct end-to-end user research, including interviews, surveys, user testing, research synthesis, and feedback analysis.
- Translate research insights into sitemaps, user flows, journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
- Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for web, mobile, and digital products.
- Rapidly prototype, test, gather feedback, and iterate designs based on user needs.
- Identify UX and design challenges and develop practical, elegant solutions.
- Make strategic UX and design decisions related to existing and new features.
- Collaborate with developers, QA specialists, business analysts, product teams, and other stakeholders.
- Support product vision through research, sketching, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Design experiences optimized for different devices, platforms, and interfaces.
- Prepare clear documentation and communicate design concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- Experience working as a UX Designer, UI Designer, Interactive Designer, or similar role.
- Strong experience designing web and mobile applications.
- Experience leading UX projects, design workshops, and stakeholder alignment sessions.
- Hands-on experience conducting and managing user research from recruitment through synthesis.
- Strong knowledge of UX methodologies, user-centered design, and usability testing.
- Experience creating wireframes, user flows, user journeys, mockups, prototypes, and sitemaps.
- Proficiency with Figma, Canva, and similar design/prototyping tools.
- Understanding of web development technologies and their design implications.
- Strong ability to collaborate with developers, QA teams, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines.
Nice-to-Have
- Knowledge of accessibility testing and accessible design principles.
- Experience designing to WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
- Experience working with the Ontario Design System.
- Knowledge of Ontario Digital Service Standards.
- Experience working with complex design challenges, legacy systems, and multiple stakeholder/approval environments.
- Previous public sector or Ontario Public Service (OPS) experience.
