Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented
Field Control Analyst to support project controls, cost tracking, reporting, and contractor management activities for capital construction and operations projects. This role is responsible for monitoring project performance through the collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of cost, budget, progress, and change management data. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project teams, contractors, inspectors, program managers, and finance stakeholders to ensure accurate project controls, timely reporting, and effective financial oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Record, track, and maintain all field submissions related to project costs, budgets, progress, and changes.
- Review, validate, and process daily Labor, Equipment, and Material (LEMS) tickets, ensuring accurate cost and labor-hour reporting for time and material work.
- Review and record daily scorecards for unit price and lump-sum contract work.
- Monitor daily project progress and change requests, identifying and reporting variances from project estimates.
- Conduct detailed analysis of project costs, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
- Collaborate with contractors to obtain accurate rates, estimates, and supporting documentation for project reporting.
- Work closely with field inspectors to ensure timely and accurate submission of project documentation.
- Review and validate invoices to confirm accuracy, contract compliance, and alignment of dates, quantities, and costs.
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable and project stakeholders to ensure invoices are properly coded, approved, and processed within Oracle Cloud.
- Prepare and maintain scheduled and ad hoc project reports for project teams and leadership.
- Participate in project, program, and contractor update meetings, providing project controls insight and support.
- Support program teams by working closely with Program Managers, Project Controls Advisors, Field Control Advisors, and project leads.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and operational standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to project controls, reporting processes, and financial management practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in project controls, cost control, financial analysis, construction administration, or a related field.
- Experience supporting cost and schedule controls on multidisciplinary construction or industrial projects.
- Oil and gas industry experience is preferred, particularly supporting pipeline, terminal, or facility projects.
- Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracting, construction, execution, and commissioning project phases is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, and data analysis functions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud, SAP, or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Experience with Power BI is considered an asset.
- Understanding of project cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, invoice validation, and reporting processes.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid office environment based in Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB.
- Frequent interaction with project teams, contractors, inspectors, and finance personnel.
- Participation in project and contractor meetings as required.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform prolonged computer-based work, including sitting and typing for extended periods.
- Ability to review detailed reports and utilize computer screens for data analysis.
- Occasional standing, reaching, kneeling, and lifting materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through virtual collaboration tools.

- Ability to interpret and apply written and verbal instructions.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex information.
- Ability to prioritize workload, manage competing deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Capable of preparing reports, correspondence, and project documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
