Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Environment Work Package Manager in this role will join our clients major capital infrastructure team supporting the multi-phase North Coast Transmission Project (NCT). The NCT is a once-in-a-generation, critical transmission initiative designed to twin existing lines, expand clean energy capacity, and power industrial and community growth across Northwest B.C. In this role, you will apply your advanced theoretical and practical expertise to successfully manage complex environmental work packages in a greenfield setting. You will ensure that project milestones are met safely, within budget, on schedule, and in strict alignment with environmental regulations and First Nations commitments.
Responsibilities
- Contract & Procurement Management: Manage environmental contractors, procurement processes, and contract administration tasks strictly within 's corporate systems and procedures.
- Biophysical Constraint Analysis: Coordinate comprehensive environmental constraints analyses of project designs and plans, with a strong, hands-on emphasis on biophysical topics in greenfield settings along the Prince George to Terrace corridor.
- Regulatory & First Nations Coordination: Coordinate responses to senior regulatory agency representatives and First Nations groups on key environmental and natural resource topics.
- Mitigation & Risk Planning: Assist in environmental risk investigations, mitigation development, and planning, including participating in confidential negotiations regarding mitigation and compensation programs.
- Scope, Schedule & Cost Control: Manage the scope, schedule, and cost progression for the designated environmental work package, proposing plan adjustments and technical recommendations as required.
- Regulatory Interpretation: Assist project teams in interpreting complex environmental regulations and leading complex environmental review processes for unconventional design and field challenges.
- Field & Travel Operations: Travel regularly to the project area (Prince George to Terrace corridor) to attend stakeholder meetings, field tours, workshops, and conduct field risk investigations.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive environmental or natural resource management work experience, with a heavy emphasis on large capital construction projects.
- Proven background in managing environmental contractors, procurement cycles, and contract administration.
- Direct, hands-on British Columbia work experience in environmental management.
- Multi-disciplinary study and formal environmental assessment experience.
- Advanced technical writing and presentation skills, including the preparation of environmental impact statements and expert testimony.
- Proficiency with advanced MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional English communication skills (written and spoken) for a professional corporate environment.
- Nice-to-Haves
- Direct experience working collaboratively with First Nation Groups and Indigenous communities on major infrastructure initiatives.
- Specialized background in transmission line or linear infrastructure development within greenfield environments.
- Education and Certifications
- Undergraduate degree in Science or Engineering, combined with eligibility for active membership in a recognized B.C. professional association such as RP Bio, P. Geo., PMP, P. Eng., or equivalent.
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
