About the Job
E-Commerce & Business Systems Manager
Location: Toronto / Greater Toronto Area
Work Model: Hybrid
Compensation: up to $90,000 base
Our client is a growing B2C organization with a significant e-commerce operation, selling through Shopify and marketplace channels across multiple international markets. We are looking for an E-Commerce & Business Systems Manager who understands how e-commerce transactions, financial data, and business systems connect from end to end.
This is a great opportunity for a Business Analyst with strong e-commerce and financial systems experience who enjoys understanding how transactions flow, how data is structured, and how systems work together. This is a hybrid role.
The role ensures accurate and efficient flow of financial and operational data across systems including Sage Intacct, Shopify, affiliate platforms, custom e-commerce applications, payment systems, licensee reporting, and business intelligence tools. It combines financial systems management, analytics, reporting, data governance, process improvement, and project management. The Manager works closely with Finance, E-commerce, Operations, IT, developers, vendors, and other business teams to improve processes, automation, reporting, and internal controls.
The role also supports the broader digital and commercial technology environment, working across Finance, E-commerce, Marketing, and Operations to ensure business systems, data, and reporting effectively support online revenue, customer activity, marketplace operations, and business growth.
This is a business-facing role requiring strong Business Analyst / Business Systems Analyst capabilities, with the ability to understand business requirements, translate them into system and data requirements, and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Manage and improve the financial, e-commerce, and business systems supporting the company, including Shopify, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, Power BI, Amazon, and other connected applications and add-ons.
- Oversee the flow of e-commerce transactions and data from customer purchase through order processing, fulfillment, and financial reporting.
- Ensure products, transactions, pricing, taxation, payments, and other data are properly configured, coded, captured, and flowing accurately between systems.
- Partner with Finance, E-commerce, and Marketing to identify data issues, reconcile information, improve processes, and support e-commerce and marketplace performance.
- Support the growth of the B2C e-commerce and marketplace business across Amazon, Shopify, and other digital channels, including product listings, merchandising, pricing, promotions, and digital content.
- Gather business requirements and translate them into practical system, application, data, and process improvements.
- Work with developers, IT, vendors, and consultants on integrations, APIs, application configuration, data flows, and system enhancements - you don't need to be the person writing the code.
- Build and improve Power BI dashboards, reporting, KPIs, and analytics to help the business understand its financial, e-commerce, marketing, and marketplace data.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve data accuracy and efficiency, and strengthen system functionality.
- Participate in system implementations, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement, while documenting processes, workflows, requirements, and system/data flows.
- Provide guidance and support to the E-commerce team, helping ensure consistent and accurate product, pricing, inventory, customer, and transaction data across online channels.
What We're Looking For
- 4–7 years of experience in Business Analysis, Business Systems Analysis, financial systems, e-commerce operations, digital commerce, analytics, or a related field.
- Strong Business Analyst / Business Systems Analyst mindset, with the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into practical technical and process solutions.
- Experience working across multiple business applications, add-ons, and connected systems, with a strong understanding of how systems and data interact.
- Power BI experience is a must, including building dashboards, connecting to data sources, retrieving data, and developing reporting/analytics.
- Experience with an ERP or financial system and an understanding of how transactions impact financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce and marketplace operations, including product data, online merchandising, pricing, promotions, inventory, orders, payments, and customer data.
- Experience with Shopify and/or e-commerce platforms; exposure to Amazon/Seller Central or other marketplace environments is an asset.
- Sage Intacct is preferred but not required. Experience with comparable ERP/financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Acumatica, or similar platforms is relevant.
- Strong understanding of data structures, data quality, reconciliation, reporting, and data flows.
- Comfortable working with integrations, APIs, application configuration, and technical systems from a business/functional perspective. Basic SQL knowledge is preferred, but advanced SQL development is not required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand the "why" behind the data and use it to support business and e-commerce decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Finance, E-commerce, Marketing, IT, Operations, and other technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A hands-on, curious approach with the ability to learn new systems, work across a variety of applications, and grow into the role.
This Role Is For You If...
You enjoy figuring out how everything connects.
You might not be a developer, IT specialist, or accounting and you don't need to be. You understand business processes, e-commerce transactions, financial data, and systems well enough to ask the right questions, identify what's not working, and work with the right people to make it better.
This role offers the opportunity to gain true end-to-end visibility into an e-commerce business, including transactions, product and data setup, taxation, financial systems, reporting, integrations, APIs, and analytics.
