Our Calgary-based client is seeking a
Controller to oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. Reporting to the owner, this role is responsible for leading the organization's financial management function. The successful candidate will own the day-to-day financial operations and reporting for the entire group, including the operating company, related corporations, and trusts. They will also provide leadership to the bookkeeper, ensuring all financial records are accurate, organized, and maintained in a timely manner.
Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To
- Maintain up-to-date books and accurate financial records.
- Lead timely month-end close and monthly account reconciliations.
- Oversee AP, AR, cash flow, and payment approval processes.
- Monitor collections and manage customer aging proactively.
- Manage inventory accuracy, costing, and variance investigations.
- Provide margin and profitability reporting across key segments.
- Maintain clean financials for all entities, corporations, and trusts.
- Track, reconcile, and report intercompany transactions and balances.
- Prepare year-end packages and maintain organized financial documentation.
- Manage the bookkeeper, improve processes, and ensure accountability.
- Oversee payroll administration, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.
- Manage contracts, insurance, property-related matters, and key vendor relationships.
Your strengths include:
- CPA designation with previous industry experience
- Demonstrated leader who fosters teamwork, transparency, and development
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
