We are looking for an experienced finance leader to guide financial management across multiple business units in Kitchener- Waterloo, Ontario. This hybrid role combines hands-on oversight of accounting activities with strategic analysis that supports operational and leadership decisions. The successful candidate will strengthen reporting, improve financial processes, and help build a scalable finance function for a growing organization.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycle to ensure accurate records and timely completion across all entities.
- Prepare, review, and interpret financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting documents to maintain reporting quality and consistency.
- Manage core finance operations, including accounts payable, cash oversight, and related transactional activities.
- Partner with senior leaders to assess business results, highlight financial risks, and identify opportunities for improved performance.
- Lead, coach, and support the finance team by setting clear priorities, accountability measures, and service expectations.
- Strengthen internal control practices and governance standards to support compliance, audit readiness, and organizational growth.
- Drive process enhancements by introducing automation, technology, and AI-based solutions that improve efficiency and data accuracy.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning while aligning financial insights with operational needs across consulting and construction-focused business lines.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial management roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, reporting, and month-end close activities.
- Strong knowledge of accounting operations, financial reporting standards, and internal control principles.
- Experience leading or mentoring finance staff and building effective team performance.
- Ability to translate financial data into practical recommendations for business leaders.
- Proven track record of improving processes and implementing more efficient finance workflows.
- Background supporting organizations in architecture, engineering, construction, or related industries is considered an asset.
