About the Company
Our client, a leading Toronto law firm, is seeking a Junior Legal Assistant to join its Legal Support Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Legal Assistant or Legal Administration graduate with at least one year of relevant experience to build their career in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, draft, and proofread legal documents, forms, presentations, and correspondence.
- Assist with compiling records, court briefs, and other legal materials.
- Coordinate service of legal documents, court filings, and online submissions.
- Open, close, and maintain electronic client files and matter records.
- Update client information and contact lists within the firm's CRM system.
- Provide coverage and administrative support to legal assistants across the practice group.
- Assist with billing, docket entries, expense reports, scheduling, meeting arrangements, and travel bookings.
- Liaise with internal departments, courts, and other stakeholders to ensure deadlines and client needs are met.
- Perform general administrative duties and provide support on special projects as required.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in a Legal Assistant or Legal Administration program.
- At least one year of relevant legal assistant experience following graduation.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and the Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and PDF software, such as Adobe or Kofax.
- Experience with legal practice management software is an asset.
- Strong organizational, time management, proofreading, and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with a strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Compensation
- Salary up to $55,000, commensurate with experience.
