About this Role:
SiteTalent is hiring a Junior Estimator / Project Coordinator on behalf of our client, an established civil contractor based in Maple Ridge, BC, specializing in earthworks, underground utilities, road construction, site servicing, excavation, and land clearing across commercial, industrial, institutional, residential, and municipal projects. You'll get hands-on exposure to both sides of the business, supporting the estimating team on quantity takeoffs and cost estimates, while also helping project managers keep active jobs running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Review plans, specifications, and tender or contract documents
- Prepare quantity takeoffs, both by hand and digitally, with guidance from the estimating team
- Help gather and organize supplier and subcontractor quotes
- Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as needed
- Support preparation of cost estimates, including lump sum and unit rate
- Help prepare and submit tender packages and proposals
- Coordinate day-to-day administrative and logistical needs on active projects
- Track project documentation, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Liaise with site supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to help keep schedules on track
- Support project managers with cost tracking and reporting
- Assist with handoff between estimating and operations as projects move forward
What You'll Need:
- 0 to 3 years of experience in civil construction estimating, project coordination, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- A basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Solid math and computer skills, including proficiency with Excel
- Good written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, both independently and as part of a team
- A valid driver's licence
Nice to Have:
- A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field
- Familiarity with HCSS HeavyBid or Carlson Software
- Civil construction field experience
- A background in civil design, drafting, inspection, or survey work
