THE ROLE
As Construction Supervisor, you will lead day-to-day site operations, directing crews, subcontractors and trades to deliver work safely, on schedule, within budget and to specification. You will work closely with the Project Manager, engineers, inspectors, suppliers and clients from mobilization through to project completion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise daily site activities, including crews, subcontractors and equipment - Plan and coordinate work to meet schedule, budget and quality targets
- Enforce site safety through toolbox talks, hazard assessments, inspections and incident reporting, in compliance with provincial OHS legislation
- Review drawings, specifications and contract documents to ensure work is built to plan and to applicable codes (National Building Code and provincial building codes)
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment and labour requirements - Monitor progress and productivity, and report on schedule, cost and quantity updates
- Maintain daily logs, site diaries, photos and compliance records
- Liaise with inspectors, consultants, utility providers, municipal authorities and the client
- Identify, document and resolve site issues, deficiencies and change requests
- Verify subcontractor compliance with safety, quality and insurance requirements (including WSIB, WorkSafeBC or provincial equivalent coverage)
- Mentor junior staff, apprentices and labourers
- Support quality control and project closeout, including deficiency lists and handover documentation
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 to 8+ years of construction experience, including [2 to 3+] years in a supervisory, foreman or lead hand role
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and sequencing in [civil / commercial / residential / industrial] work
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and schedules
- Solid understanding of provincial health and safety regulations and site safety practices
- Proven leadership, communication and problem-solving skills - Ability to manage crews and subcontractors under tight deadlines
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS (adjusted to province)
- Working at Heights - WHMIS - First Aid / CPR - Provincial or industry safety training (e.g. CSTS, Ontario Health and Safety Awareness, or Supervisor Competency training)
