Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator is accountable for administering HR programs, policies and procedures and for meeting the Plant’s staffing needs for hourly positions to support business priorities. The position provides guidance and advice to employees and responds to a variety of Human Resources related questions. This role will also carry out administrative work involving the human resources functions including WCB, STD, and health and safety paperwork.
Key Accountabilities:
- Leads the recruitment and selection processes for hourly employees in accordance with company standards to ensure that plant hourly recruitment needs are met. Including posting the positions, screen applications, interviewing, reference checks, preparation of offer letters, and conducting hourly new hire Orientations.
- Administers current HR policies, programs, and practices to ensure consistent administration and compliance is enforced. Including but not limited to the attendance management program, non-occupational leaves, onboarding and orientation, hourly training (Alchemy), etc…
- Participate in aspects of the Collective Agreement interpretation and application and grievance process to assist operations team in ensuring that employee-related issues are properly addressed and resolved.
- Organizes and attends Labour/Management Monthly meetings and distribution of minutes for the Plant.
- Provides HR administrative support to Operations and Health and Safety teams when required including conducting investigations, administering Return to Work (WCB) program, counsel, or coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Certificate in Human Resource Management considered an asset
- Comfortable in dealing with ambiguity; promoting ideas, developing plans and execution
- Experience in Labour Relations; grievance management; interpretation of collective agreement an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of recruitment and selection methodologies and practices with experience in full cycle recruitment in a unionized environment
- Knowledge of WCB and Health and Safety, relevant Provincial Employment Standards Act experience considered an asset
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong communication, conflict resolution and analytical skills
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Hiring Range:
- Hiring Range: CAD $52,438 - $62,220
- Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus up to 5% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions.
- Please note that the expected hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity.
