<p><strong>The Role</strong></p>
<p>We're looking for a hands-on finance professional to help build and scale our Finance function - a rare chance to shape how Finance works at Stan from the ground up, not just execute an existing playbook. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you'll get a front-row seat to how a fast-growing AI startup runs, with direct mentorship and a lot of room to grow. You'll have real ownership over core parts of our finance operations from day one, and your scope will expand as you and the company grow.</p>
<p>This is a broad, high-visibility role for someone who enjoys both getting into the details and improving how things work. You'll work across accounting operations, FP&A, systems, automation and strategic analysis, with real ownership from day one.</p>
<h2 id="tasks">Tasks</h2>
<ul>
<li>Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis as part of the monthly close, and help produce accurate, timely reporting for our board and investors.</li>
<li>Technical Accounting: Revenue recognition, consolidated reporting, and external audit ownership, with real accounting-policy judgment.</li>
<li>Billing & Collections: Own billing, invoicing, AR/collections, and support AP and payments, building stronger controls as you go.</li>
<li>Automation & Intelligent Workflows: Help evaluate and roll out our finance systems (billing, sales tax, spend management, reporting), and bring a curious, AI-forward mindset to automating recurring work and surfacing insights faster.</li>
<li>Compliance: Support sales tax, compliance, SRED process and other recurring finance requirements.</li>
<li>Planning & Forecasting: Support the annual operating plan, forecasting, and cash-flow/runway reporting. </li>
<li>Business Partnering: Build and maintain budget-vs-actual and recurring KPI/management reporting, work directly with department leaders.</li>
<li>Strategic Finance: Identify cost-saving opportunities and support business case evaluation for major investments and capital-allocation decisions.</li>
</ul>
<h2 id="requirements">Requirements</h2>
<p><strong>Must-Have</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Relevant Experience: 3–5 years of progressive finance experience, with a CPA designation or actively pursuing one.</li>
<li>Technical Foundation: Hands-on experience with month-end close, financial analysis and reconciliations</li>
<li>Comfortable with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis</li>
<li>Startup Grit: Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where processes may still need to be built. You take an outcome and drive it through rather than waiting for instructions.</li>
<li>Communication: You can work directly with non-finance stakeholders and explain the “why” behind the numbers.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Nice-to-Have</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Systems Orientation: Genuine interest in improving processes through technology, automation and AI, and experimenting with new tools to translate them into practical workflow improvements.</li>
<li>Prior experience at a SaaS or technology company with an understanding of SaaS metrics</li>
<li>Public Accounting Background: Experience at a Big 4 or public accounting firm.</li>
