We are looking for an experienced Treasury Accountant to join our team for a three-month term. This is an immediate opportunity for someone with a strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and experience operating within a disciplined monthly close and internal control environment. We have flexibility on the pay rate for the right candidate, based on experience.
Youâll work closely with the Corporate Accounting, Treasury and other stakeholders to ensure monthly bank reconciliations are complete and cash activity is accurately reflected recorded, supported, reviewed, and resolved in the general ledger.
What youâll do:
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for domestic and international bank accounts, reconciling bank activity to the general ledger and other applicable accounting records.
Ensure reconciliations are completed accurately and within established monthly close deadlines.
Identify, research, document, and resolve reconciling items, including outstanding checks, deposits in transit, bank fees, returned payments, unidentified receipts or disbursements, transfers in transit, and other timing or posting differences.
Investigate aged or unusual reconciling items and coordinate with Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, business unit finance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
Prepare and record correcting journal entries identified through the reconciliation process.
Maintain appropriate supporting documentation and evidence of preparation in accordance with company policies and internal control requirements.
Monitor outstanding reconciling items and escalate unresolved or unusual items in accordance with established procedures.
Support the standardization and continuous improvement of bank reconciliation processes across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in finance, accounting, treasury or a related role
- Strong hands-on reconciliation experience, including investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to quickly learn processes and work independently with minimal ramp-up
- Must be eligible to work in Canada on a permanent basis
Preferred Characteristics
- Previous bank reconciliation experience
- Experience working with ERP and financial systems
- Familiarity with SOX, GAAP and financial controls
- Adaptable and able to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Solid understanding of accounting and financial transactions, including reconciliations and journal entries
