Junior Interior Designer
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and technically skilled Interior Designer to support our design team in developing thoughtful, functional, and visually compelling interior spaces.
The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for design, solid technical skills, and experience preparing construction drawings and interior design packages. You will work collaboratively with senior designers, consultants, vendors, trades, and clients while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Qualifications & Skills
Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
2-4 years of relevant interior design experience; internship or co-op experience may also be considered.
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or other relevant design software.
Strong understanding of space planning, materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and interior design principles.
Good technical knowledge and the ability to produce construction drawings and detailed interior design documentation.
Basic understanding of construction documents, detailing, building materials, and construction methods.
Strong visual presentation and communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time-management abilities.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, and applicable industry standards is considered an asset.
A portfolio demonstrating both design and technical abilities is required.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare contract documents and interior design packages using Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Develop concept designs, design presentations, and presentation materials using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and related software.
Produce 3D renderings and visualization materials using programs such as SketchUp, Lumion, Enscape, V-Ray, 3ds Max, or similar software.
Assist with space planning, material selections, finishes, furniture, lighting, and other interior design elements.
Maintain and organize the material and finish library, coordinating with suppliers, manufacturers, and trades.
Prepare material and finish sample boards for client presentations.
Develop a working knowledge of applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and industry standards to assist with the preparation of construction drawings.
Assist with construction documentation, detailing, and technical drawing production under the direction of senior designers.
Provide support with Contract Administration Services during the construction phase.
Participate in project site visits and site measurements, with support as required.
Coordinate with senior designers, consultants, vendors, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, quality, and project deadlines.
Contribute to the development of creative and practical interior design solutions from concept through construction.
Key Requirements
Technical drawing and documentation skills are essential. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with Revit and/or AutoCAD to develop accurate construction drawings and interior design documentation, while also demonstrating strong creative and visual design capabilities.
