What To Expect
Join Tesla in designing and building robust, beautiful, and data-centric automated machines. As a Manufacturing Test & Engineering Technician, you will work closely with engineers to develop, build, validate, and deploy custom test equipment for batteries and power electronics components used in Tesla vehicles and energy products. This team specifically develops and builds custom, high-power, automated testing equipment for our production lines around the world.
What You'll Do
Perform electro-mechanical assembly tasks, including: Electrical and control panel wiring, mechanical frame and fixture assembly and bench-level test setup and validationBuild equipment from complex manufacturing documentation, including drawings, schematics, and written or verbal instructionsAssist with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting during build, validation, and deployment phasesParticipate in early-phase equipment conceptual development and prototypingManage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong organization and attention to detailCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and operationsSupport procurement, inventory management, material handling, and package pickupSupport deployment, installation, and bring-up of test equipment at Tesla facilities and contract manufacturers (CMs)
What You'll Bring
Over 4 years of experience in building control panels and/or manufacturing equipmentExpertise in mechanical systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, and automation equipmentSkilled in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematicsProficient in using test equipment like digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and variable DC power suppliesExperienced with pneumatic and fluid systems, as well as high-voltage AC and DC systemsCompetent with basic shop tools (drill press, band saw, hand tools) and soldering/crimping wires of various gaugesStrong skills in cable management and high-density wire routingCapable of lifting 20–40 lbs. daily while maintaining a safe working environment Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) and willing to travel domestically and internationallyKnowledge of UL 508A and NFPA 79 standards, along with prior experience in equipment deployment at production facilities, is a plus

Expected Compensation
Engineering Tech I - $23.41 - $35.11/hourEngineering Tech II - $25.78 - $38.68/hourEngineering Tech III - $30.80 - $46.20/hourEngineering Tech IV - $35.20 - $52.80/hourEngineering Tech V - $43.12 - $64.68/hour
