As an R&D Machinist at Tesla, you will join a dynamic cross-functional team of engineers, machinists, and technicians to create high-precision components for cutting-edge technologies. What You'll Do
Set up and operate CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinding machinesSet up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, and drill pressesOwn the process from drawing review to completed parts, including programming, tooling order, machine setup, manual measurement, and adjustments from CMM measurementCollaborate with manufacturing engineering teams to develop machining processes for complex componentsProgram components for machines using CAM softwareMaintain machine tools and equipment as neededPractice 5S cyclical methodology (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain) to drive continuous improvement in the lab workspace
What You'll Bring
Red Seal certification preferred, or equivalent experienceAbility to use CAM software to program parts for machining (Esprit and/or HyperMill)Experience working with tight tolerances in metric (microns)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsStrong understanding of GD&T as per ASME Y14.5Strong organizational and multitasking skills
