Our client, a leading organization in the mining sector, is seeking a Site Contract Specialist (Pre-Award) to support a large-scale capital project. This role will be responsible for managing the full contract lifecycle, from procurement strategy and tendering through contract administration, contractor performance management, and project closeout, with a stronger focus on the pre-award activities.
Work Location: Remote BC mining site
Rotation Schedule: 2/2 (camp site assignment with chartered flights available from departure point, travel allowance, food and accommodation provided)
Employment Status: Independent Contractor
Contract Duration: 1 year with possible extension
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement and sourcing activities from planning through contract award.
- Prepare and manage RFPs, bid evaluations, commercial assessments, and negotiations.
- Administer contracts throughout execution, including amendments, change orders, and claims management.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, commercial, and governance requirements.
- Review and approve contractor invoices, progress claims, and payment documentation.
- Monitor contractor performance against safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
- Facilitate contractor and stakeholder meetings to resolve commercial and operational issues.
- Maintain purchase orders, contracts, and commercial records within project systems.
- Support contractor onboarding, mobilization, and project readiness activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve commercial outcomes, mitigate risk, and optimize project value.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, contract administration, and commercial management.
- Experience supporting major capital projects within mining, construction, infrastructure, industrial, or heavy industry environments.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, competitive tendering, contractor management, and contract negotiation.
- Experience managing multiple contract types, including lump sum, unit rate, reimbursable, and target-cost agreements.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Advanced analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with ERP, procurement, and contract management systems, along with Microsoft Office applications
