Our Client is looking for a Senior Accountant for a 6 month contract.
Location: 2-3 days on site in Mississauga
This position is primarily focused on full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and corporate accounting activities. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly analytical, and possesses strong systems and process improvement capabilities.
The successful candidate will have experience working with large ERP systems, strong balance sheet reconciliation skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to independently investigate and resolve accounting issues with minimal supervision.
About the Opportunity
- Manage and execute the full-cycle accounting process, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and account reconciliations.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies, trends, and potential process improvements.
- Support corporate accounting functions, including intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and general ledger maintenance.
- Collaborate with operational and business stakeholders to gather information and resolve accounting issues.
- Leverage ERP systems to research transactions, troubleshoot discrepancies, and improve reporting accuracy.
- Assist with financial statement preparation and audit support activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on accounting processes, controls, and system efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable accounting standards.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA certification.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate accounting environment.
- Strong experience managing full-cycle accounting and month-end close processes.
- Experience with large-scale ERP systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve issues.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and balance sheet account management.
