Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Epic - Caché DBA Analyst to support, maintain, and optimize the database infrastructure powering Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with InterSystems Caché database administration, database performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and production support.
Experience supporting Epic healthcare environments and working with clinical application, infrastructure, and technical operations teams is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and monitor InterSystems Caché database environments supporting Epic EHR applications.
- Perform database configuration, performance tuning, capacity planning, and routine maintenance.
- Monitor database health, system availability, resource utilization, and overall performance.
- Manage database backup, restore, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Troubleshoot database issues, performance bottlenecks, locking, connectivity, and production incidents.
- Support Epic application upgrades, database maintenance, patching, and infrastructure changes.
- Maintain database integrity, security, access controls, and operational standards.
- Develop and maintain database administration procedures, technical documentation, and support runbooks.
- Collaborate with Epic application analysts, Unix/Linux administrators, storage teams, and infrastructure engineers.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide support for critical production issues.
- Follow change management, incident management, and problem management processes.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in database administration or a closely related technical role.
- Hands-on experience administering InterSystems Caché databases.
- Strong knowledge of database performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Experience with backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems and scripting.
- Experience supporting mission-critical production database environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting Epic EHR environments.
- Experience with InterSystems IRIS or related InterSystems technologies.
- Knowledge of Epic database architecture and healthcare IT infrastructure.
- Experience with high availability, business continuity, and disaster recovery testing.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Experience in hospital or healthcare enterprise environments.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to participate in scheduled maintenance activities and production support rotations.
- Ability to collaborate with technical and application teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Epic certifications - MUST
