Design What Comes Next
Join our Water Resources Engineering Group in Alberta and help deliver impactful hydrotechnical and civil infrastructure projects across the Prairies, Territories, Canada, and beyond. As an Early Career Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Civil Engineer-in-Training, you will work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams to design hydraulic structures that support communities, industry, and environmental stewardship. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your technical expertise while contributing to meaningful water infrastructure projects.
Your Impact
- Collaborate with senior engineers, CAD designers, and project managers as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
- Conduct structural stability analyses and support the design of hydraulic structures, including spillways, water control structures, pump stations, water intakes, river outlets, pipelines, and mining infrastructure.
- Support the preparation and review of engineering design drawings, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Provide engineering support during construction phases, including site visits and inspections.
- Assist with condition assessments of existing structures and contribute to technical reporting and recommendations.
- Contribute to hydrotechnical assessments and water resources engineering projects.
- Develop structural models and calculation packages to solve engineering challenges using sound engineering principles.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture while supporting sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- A Bachelors or Masters Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Eligibility for immediate registration with APEGA as an Engineer in Training is required.
- 0-4 years experience in engineering including construction administration and site inspections.
- Experience analysing reinforced concrete and related structural systems is preferred.
- Basic understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design and geotechnical concepts and their application in the Prairies is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD and structural analysis or design software would be an asset.
- Experience with water management infrastructure design and construction including tender preparation and construction administration and construction inspection would be an asset.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, technical writing, office automation, technology, and tools.
- Familiarity with Canadian building codes, CSA standards, and/or ASTM standards.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet project needs.
- A willingness to learn and independently research technical solutions is encouraged.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites is required.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT:
$69,100 – $92,800
MB & ON:
$63,000 – $88,000
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC:
$62,400 – $84,000
