About The Role
As a Jetson System Designer, you will play a crucial role in transforming signed customer agreements into detailed, installable plans. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct virtual walkthroughs of customer homes, validate system sizing and electrical capacities, and develop comprehensive installation plans that facilitate seamless execution. This role involves working closely with homeowners, guiding them through the process, and ensuring that every project is prepared meticulously for a successful, single-day installation.
Projects span across the United States and Canada, and your expertise will ensure that each installation is compliant with local codes, properly permitted, and executed efficiently. You will be reporting directly to the Director of Customer Operations, collaborating with various teams to deliver high-quality service and support the company's growth objectives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems, with at least three years of relevant experience in design, technical documentation, or mechanical engineering. A proven track record of delivering accurate and actionable plans is essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of residential load calculations, such as Manual J or CSA F280 standards, and familiarity with electrical systems in residential settings, including code compliance (NEC or Canadian Electrical Code).
Exceptional communication skills in English - both written and verbal - are necessary to interact confidently and empathetically with homeowners and team members. Organizational skills and attention to detail are critical for managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for clean energy initiatives and a willingness to learn new tools and technologies. Experience working with CRM platforms like HubSpot or Salesforce, as well as familiarity with permitting processes, building departments, or HOA/Strata approvals, will be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Conduct virtual site walkthroughs using online meeting tools, capturing essential photos and data markers for calculations, site mapping, and material planning.
- Perform and review heating and cooling load calculations (using ACCA Manual J, CSA F280, or equivalent) to ensure accurate system sizing tailored to regional climate conditions.
- Calculate electrical loads in accordance with local electrical codes, verify panel capacities, and identify necessary upgrades.
- Develop detailed installation plans, including site layouts, unit placements, panel locations, and line set routing, designed to facilitate a one-day installation process.
- Coordinate with local authorities and handle permit requirements, including preparing documentation for HOA or Strata approvals where applicable.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with Customer Success, Project Coordinators, and Operations teams throughout each project lifecycle.
- Track project data and customer information accurately within Jetson’s CRM system to ensure seamless project management and reporting.
