Your Opportunity:
As an Assistant Head Nurse on Unit 4C3, you will be providing leadership (in collaboration with unit management) to a dynamic team on an acute care Pediatric Cardiology and GI inpatient unit. You will be exposed to leading innovations in care for Pediatric Cardiac and GI patients from all over western Canada. Your duties and responsibilities include supporting patient flow on the unit as well as a global level for the Stollery Children’s Hospital. You will be required to develop appropriate and safe patient assignments based on the acuity of the unit and be a clinical resource and role model for the staff.
Description:
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
5 years minimum current Pediatric Cardiology experience required. Must have completed Level 4 certifications including current Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) training, charge training.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional leadership training and education will be a preferred asset.
