Your Opportunity:
Viking Community Health Centre is looking to welcome a new Health Care Aide to its Home Care Team supporting Viking and community. As a Health Care Aide (HCA) reporting to the Home Care Manager, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our clients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide direct client centered care. Within the Home Care Interdisciplinary Team, the Health Care Aide is responsible for providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living within the client’s authorized plan of care. Your role will require you to work independently in a variety of settings and be comfortable working in all weather conditions. Flexibility is required as this involves shift work. Viking is located approximately 136 km southeast of Edmonton, Alberta.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals.

Required Qualifications:
Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) through the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License along with access to a reliable vehicle for business use. Driving in all weather conditions. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including walking, bending, lifting, and standing and driving for long periods of time. Transporting supplies and equipment. CCHSS and Assisted Living Alberta/ AHS qualifications is mandatory and documentation that such education requirements are being met must be submitted on a regular basis. Basic computer skills with Windows operating system, including Outlook and MS Teams. 2 years recent experience in Continuing care (Type A or B) and or Home Care. Please note: the successful candidate requires upmost flexibility as this is a shift work position and scheduling may require day and evening shift work. Must provide references that can substantiate above qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification and experience with Medication Assistance. Training and experience with electronic documenting system, Connect Care.
