Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A

About the Opportunity
Our client is a national CPG manufacturer with plants across Canada and backing from a global parent company. The category is under real pressure. A strong US dollar, aluminum tariffs and fuel costs are squeezing margins, so the business is focused on discipline and tighter execution.
A new CEO arrived recently with a transformation agenda, and regional financial insight will feed directly into it. FP&A is organized by region (West, East and Quebec). The team is lean, and two regional seats are open now. Our client rarely works with agencies. These contracts exist because the need is urgent.
We are hiring for two roles with the same scope. The East SFA covers Ontario and the Maritimes and sits alongside the sales director and distribution team in Guelph. The Quebec SFA is also based in Guelph and partners with mostly remote business leaders in Quebec. In either seat, you own the full regional P&L and present results directly to the senior team.
This suits someone who has done regional FP&A in CPG before and wants a high-visibility contract during a turnaround. You will work without a team under you and your analysis will be in front of senior leadership every month.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full regional P&L: volumes, pricing, product mix and channel mix
- Analyze discounts and promotions and their impact on regional margin
- Track plant performance, including over/under absorption costing and efficiencies
- Analyze distribution, SG&A, and sales and marketing spend for the region
- Prepare and load the monthly regional forecast
- Present monthly forecast and financial results to the senior team
- Deliver regional variance analysis that explains what drove results, not just what moved
- Partner with regional leaders (e.g. distribution, sales) to understand their cost drivers and key variables
- Run reports, build and manipulate models, and handle forecast loads yourself (roughly 20-25% of the role)
What You Bring
- Senior FP&A or regional finance experience in CPG, with full P&L ownership
- A track record of monthly forecasting, variance analysis and presenting to senior leaders
- Working knowledge of manufacturing cost concepts, including absorption costing and plant efficiencies
- Strong business partnering skills: you explain results through the lens of the operator, not the statements
- Manager-level judgment with a hands-on approach, comfortable delivering without support underneath you
- A proven contractor who can hit the ground running and see a 6-month mandate through
- Curiosity and sharp questions that help you learn a business quickly
- Advanced Excel and comfort working in reporting and forecasting systems
Nice to Have
- CPG manufacturing experience with multi-plant operations
- Experience in a business going through transformation or cost pressure
