Position Overview
The Director of Technology will align the company’s technology strategy and capabilities with its business objectives. This role will lead the Technology team across five interconnected segments, integrating technology solutions with operational efficiency initiatives. With a strong emphasis on people leadership, the Director will mentor and develop the team while fostering collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability across all five segments.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of technology and its role in enabling the business, combined with proven experience leading cross-functional teams, driving digital transformation, and improving business processes. This leadership role requires a balance of strategic vision, sound business judgment, and engaged people management to advance technology and operational efficiency across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor the Technology team across five distinct segments, ensuring priorities, resources, and initiatives are aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth by providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development opportunities for team members.
- Serve as a bridge between the Technology team and other departments, ensuring clear communication of goals, project updates, and challenges, while partnering with business leaders to evaluate competing needs and prioritize initiatives based on business impact, urgency, risk, and available resources.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with the organization’s vision, ensuring that technology enables business growth and operational efficiency.
- Lead the digital transformation efforts, including the integration of new technologies, system upgrades, and software implementations that drive business growth and innovation.
- Provide oversight of technology risk management, ensuring appropriate controls, accountability, and compliance with data security, privacy regulations, and industry best practices.
- Develop succession plans for key roles across the Technology team’s five segments, ensuring continuity and future readiness.
- Manage team dynamics and resolve conflicts effectively, maintaining strong morale, collaboration, and productivity across the Technology team.
- Provide strategic oversight of business process improvement efforts, ensuring the team identifies operational inefficiencies, prioritizes high-impact opportunities, and implements sustainable improvements across the company.
- Oversee the use of data analytics and business intelligence tools to monitor and optimize key operational metrics, ensuring insights support informed decision-making.
- Oversee multiple technology projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Oversee the reliability, security, scalability, and ongoing evolution of the company’s technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, hardware, and software, to support current and future business needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external IT vendors and service providers to optimize costs and service levels.
- Oversee the Technology budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and investments in technology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field; an MBA, MIS, or comparable graduate degree is preferred. Equivalent experience combining business leadership with work in a technology environment will also be considered.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
- Proven experience in managing IT departments, driving digital transformation, and overseeing business process improvement initiatives.
- Thorough understanding of IT infrastructure, software development, cybersecurity, and cloud technologies.
- Strong people management skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of business intelligence, process automation, and ERP systems.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, inspire, and develop diverse teams.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive company-wide initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities with a focus on employee engagement and operational excellence.
